Yes, I was running outside in my underwear. They were boxers and I’m sure the neighbors could not tell. It was an emergency. Wait, perhaps I should back up and start from the beginning.
So, as I was getting ready for bed when I heard an odd sound from the backyard. What is that? It was just before midnight January 8th. I paused for a moment. And then the sound came again. An animal shrieked!
That’s when I said to my wife, “There’s something wrong in the backyard! The animals are screaming.”

So today, while drinking my coffee and enjoying a day off after Christmas, my wife and I had the television on. We were watching Extreme Cheapskates on TLC while doing other things. In this particular episode, one of the people named Roy, talked about how he uses “used coffee grounds” to clean his windows with. Several of the things that are mentioned in the show are things my wife and I would never do because of health risks or just being disgusting. But using coffee grounds to clean with? That was intriguing, especially as I watched the show drinking a cup of coffee!
So I did a little googling and found some ideas. Currently my wife and I only use coffee grounds to put in our compost. But these sites suggest other uses for Coffee Grounds:
Ideas range from cleaning dishes, to ant repellant, to furniture dye. Have you actually tried any of these? Do they actually work? Any tips or ideas you have will be greatly appreciated. I am a graduate student living on a budget so any money saving tips for my wife and I are greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading and have a great day!
While traveling to the Philippines I had time to think about things I want to accomplish in my life. Not having access to television frees up a surprising amount of time to think when you are an American. Although I did really, really, really miss the entire 2012 Olympics.
Anyway, here is a list of things I want to accomplish in 2012.
2012 Bucket List
5. See the Irish Rovers
My wife and I have tickets for the Irish Rovers in November. This may not seem like a big deal, but my wife has wanted to see them perform live for most of her life. She had a couple opportunities before when they came to the U.S., but she missed those chances for various reasons. They are a Canadian band that occasionally plays in the U.S. So when we saw they were going to be near Seattle… I got the tickets.
**My wife always wanted to see a bald Eagle in the wild, but she did not see one until this year in the Northwest. Did we see it at one of the parks we visited looking for the Bald Eagle? Nope. She saw it fly across the highway while she was driving… she almost wrecked, but she finally saw a Bald Eagle flying and it was not in a zoo.**
4. Begin Training for a marathon
I want to run at least one marathon in my life. It’s just a goal, something to do. I have never wanted to sky dive or climb to the top of Mt. Everest, but running a marathon is something I want to do. I am targeting the 2013 Seattle Marathon. Continue reading My 2012 Bucket List
